Catch up posts: That’s Alright (Mama)

21 Jul

Once again I have been on a blog writing hiatus. I keep letting myself get distracted and time slips away from me. Discipline has never been my biggest strength; hopefully one day I can improve that.

A couple of weeks ago I attended a fundraising function with my family, for a charity called Artist for Orphans. It’s a wonderful charity that helps Orphans in Vietnam. The night was great and from what I have been told so far, very successful for the charity. Mark Andrew; a very talented impersonator; was there doing his Legends showcase, that involves Elvis, Austin Powers, Tom Jones and Dean Martin to name a few. I have never been a real fan of impersonators for some reason but I really enjoyed his act!

Wedding Crashers

14 Apr

Sometimes I think I need a day off from my days off. I could have my 5 working days, 2 days off and then an extra day to get all my other personal jobs done. Since starting back at Uni I just haven’t been able to find the time to post or to get any photos taken, then last week I had a nasty fall during a pretty big night out and my face was a little beaten and bruised, I looked like a junkie that had been bashed by her crazy boyfriend. My face has almost healed so I will be taking some more outfit photos soon, but here is one from a few weeks ago when I had 2 weddings on the same day!

They were both friends of Stew’s and it was impossible to go to both ceremonies as they were a couple of hours away from each other and one started at 3 and the other at 4 . So we went to the first ceremony and then went to the other’s reception. I felt rude being at someones reception eating their food and drinking their alcohol when I hadn’t been at the ceremony but the Groom had said it was fine but I still felt really bad.

I didn’t get a chance to get any good photos of my hair  and I was really proud of my efforts! I still don’t know how or what I did but it worked out better than I was expecting! These sort of show it in more detail and also how excited I was that I had a beer!

Don’t back down!

Friday night my mates band Skyways are Highways, played at Ding Dong lounge in the city.

I always have so much fun at their gigs, sometimes a little too much. I was having a quiet night because I had Laneway the next day, but I gave in and ended up having a very big and extremely fun night!

I was feeling really sick the two days before so to make myself feel a little better I  went for a bit of a glam look!

I just love false eyelashes! If they weren’t so annoying I would wear them everyday.

Fun with my friends, Tam, Taygan and Josh. Taygan also made her entire outfit! She is ridiculously good at sewing. She will have her own clothing label one day.

Tartan Tuesday

My first post for 2014 and it’s going to be short and sweet, just like my dress. (So lame I know!)

Summer has finally decided to show up. It’s been a so hot the last few days with more 40+ days to come!

My dress might have been a little short for work but it is ridiculously comfortable and perfect for this weather.

Only one more day of my work week and I am looking forward to sitting in the pool and reading. I should also take down the christmas decorations at some stage.

Will post more soon! 20140114-204237.jpg

Fremantle

7 Dec

Our first day in Perth we headed down to Fremantle. All I wanted to do was check out the op shops and vintage stores. I found a few bits and pieces, not as much as I would have liked though. We had a delicious breakfast at Moore & Moore then headed out to the shops!

I love this dress. I found it ages at an op shop and got Stew’s mum to shorten it for me. It’s very 80s with a 40s/50s feel to it. It was a great, light dress to wear for a very hot day in Freo!

Holiday!

4 Dec

I am currently waiting at the airport waiting for our flight to Perth!!!
I’m using my phone app which I’ve never used before so not sure how this will turn out. I’m so excited that I’m not even mad our flight has been delayed for over an hour. This will be my first time visiting Western Australia. I am most excited to go to Fremantle and check out all the op shops and vintage stores! Hopefully will get my hands on some awesome bits and pieces.
I’m using my vintage American Tourister luggage that I got a few months ago. Stew had already packed my suitcase when I got these photos taken but I’ll post a picture of them at another stage.

I don’t know why I haven’t put this outfit (or one similar) together along time ago. I have so many skater dresses in my wardrobe and a heap of collared shirts that I never wear now that I’m not working in the office. This was my outfit for the cafe yesterday. I love this shirt, I love this dress and I love them even more together!!

I also thought it would be a good idea to start walking to work as I need to get fit again. In true Victorian weather it went from being a sunny day to raining within a couple of minutes. Luckily I was prepared for once and had my umbrella with me.

20131114-212522.jpgNow I am off to enjoy my day off and bake some tasty, healthy and gluten free treats!

Little Green Dress

9 Nov

The weather tried to trick me this morning, I thought it was going to be a warm and sunny day, so I thought I would brighten up my outfit. However, as soon as I took these photos I realised how cold it actually was and so I added a dark navy blazer and was nice and warm at work all day. It was Market day, and I did intend to go early and have a look at all the different bits and pieces on offer but I somehow took too long to get ready. I don’t know how that happens! I will have to make sure I go early next month. There was a cute little lady selling some vintage looking hats that I really want to have a look at, as well as lots of different people selling arts and crafts and bits and bobs and I’m sure I will find many things  that I like.

This is another op shop find. I found this with my Grandma a couple of weeks ago at Vinnies in Geelong. I’m looking forward to wearing it in summer without the tights!

Pink, Navy & Polka Dots

It has been a very busy and crazy week but I have finally managed to make some time to post.

After some beautiful past few days, today was back to the horrible cold and wet winter weather. Sad face.

20131108-211213.jpgThe cafe had their big grand opening on Saturday and changed their name from Kyneton Market Fresh to Duck Duck Goose & Larder. I love the name I think it’s adorable. The day went really well and it has been busy every day since. We even ran out of coffee by Tuesday night (luckily we were closed Wednesday for the Kyneton Cup) It has been really good for me as I picked up a few extra shifts.

20131108-211309.jpgAfter a big day on Saturday, I went back to my boss’ house and had drinks with them and Captain, the miniature horse. Look how cute he is! He was really friendly and kept trying to drink my ciders. I think when I finally get my own house I’m going to make sure I have enough room to get a pony. 20131108-211319.jpgWednesday was the Kyneton Cup, and at about 11.30 Stew and I decided to go. Very last minute! We had friends in a marquee and didn’t have to pay for drinks all day. I put a few bets on and accidentally put one on the wrong horse but it ended up winning and I came home with more cash than what I took. Happy days!20131108-211326.jpgMichelle and I enjoying the day 20131108-211342.jpgDress: Valleygirl // Belt & Shoes: Target // Headband: Diva20131108-211348.jpgWe attempted to get a nice group photo with the guys, but it clearly wasn’t going to happen.

Blue is the new black

29 Oct

Another amazing find at the local op-shop and it’s a Norman Hartnell dress! Like so many of my other dresses it’s another blue one! I think my wardrobe is being taken over by numerous shades of blue because it matches my hair.

I was so happy with this find. It’s my exact size and it came with a cute little belt.  I didn’t even realise it was a Norman Hartnell (or much about him) until I was talking to Taygan today and trying to figure out what era the dress was from, we went with late 70s.
