The Grandpa Blazer

28 Oct

I have a ridiculous amount of dresses that I am dying to wear to the cafe but the weather is still too cold! So while it’s still miserable and raining I thought I would get my Grandpa Blazer out. I’m not sure if it really belonged to a grandpa, (if it did he had very short arms) but I like to think some cute old man used to wear it with a bow-tie, suspenders and grandpa hat.

It is deliciously warm and looks great with jeans, a skirt or my almost too short for work, skater dress.

Hopefully soon the weather will be warmer and I can get some of these spring/summer dresses out. 20131027-224854.jpg

20131027-224912.jpgWhen we were taking outfit photos little Rufus was watching and waiting for us to come back! He is so cute. The poor little guy is getting the snip tomorrow. He has been even more of a rascal these past few weeks and has even started fighting with Bambi, and usually the two are the very best of friends. Hopefully he will calm down after tomorrows operation. I do feel sorry for him though, he won’t know whats happened to him!

Blue, White and Red

27 Oct

I feel like I should have been wearing this outfit for 4th of July but it’s only a few months late.

This is my favourite dress at the moment. I borrowed it from the lovely Taygan, who then so generously decided to let me keep it! Not that I need any more blue or polka dot dresses but I couldn’t say no.

I won’t get much of a chance to wear it now that I’m not in the office and I don’t want it to get ruined at the cafe, but it is perfect for nights out and my days off.20131026-214431.jpg

Another Wedding!

25 Oct

These were from a couple of weeks ago now, but better late than never.

Andrew and Jess got married at the Pioneer Settlement, in Swan Hill. The last couple of wedding’s I have been to have been at the Settlement and I can understand why! It’s a beautiful place, such a pretty spot for a wedding, and all the weddings have been completely unique and suited to each couple.

This was the first time I have actually been down the old street with all the old stores and I thought the old dress store was the perfect place to take some photos. I wish I could have explored the store, it was full of the most amazing vintage bits and pieces.20131025-205023.jpg

I was super hung over and forgot to take my hair straightener so doing much with my hair wasn’t an option and so was curling my  fringe up, but some how I made it work. I really have no idea how I did it, I just started twisting and pinning and I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

It wouldn’t be a wedding without some bathroom selfies and this is Krystel and I sad about no cookies.

The cookie’s was a good idea. They had little brown bags with “A & J” and the wedding date on them and cookies for everyone to take home. Unfortunately there was a few cookie monsters at the wedding and overfilled their cookie bags, leaving a lot of people cookie-less. They looked like really delicious cookies too, hence the sad faces.

Floral Librarian

Today was another day at the café, that’s why I have a boring bun again. I keep sleeping in and I need to have my hair up so it’s the easiest way to do it. I need to look in to some cute up-dos that are more interesting than a bun. Any ideas?

This outfit  sort of makes me feel like an old school teacher or librarian. I wanted to wear my cat-eye glasses but I couldn’t find them anywhere (Sad face).  Then I really would have looked the part.

This dress is very eighties does fifties and is going to be one of my favourites this summer.  I got it second hand from a girl I work with. We have a market day every second Saturday of the month and she sells some clothes and I picked myself up three dresses and a cute little top. She has amazing style and I know I will be finding many more items!

I was so happy when I found this cardigan at the op-shop the other week. I have been on the hunt for a purple cardigan for a few months now and I finally found one. Yay!

20131016-184520.jpgI’m really looking forward to the next few days. Tomorrow I have a Barista course and will hopefully be able to make prettier coffees! Then tomorrow night my friend Kendall flies in from New Zealand and we are staying at a hotel all weekend. There will be many cocktails and bottles of champagne consumed and hopefully I wont have a sore head for work on Sunday.

I have now been at the cafe for a week and I am loving it.

Today I even baked YoYos’s and Double Choc Chip Cookies and they actually turned out pretty amazing.

This was today’s outfit.20131014-204144.jpg

Bows & Leopard

I am that excited to have a job where I can wear what I like again!
Corporate clothes can be really fun but I found my work really limiting with what I could put together.

This was my work outfit yesterday. I was running late and this is ‘my go to’ outfit. As the day went on I did realise that it isn’t that practical for the cafe. The dress may be a little short and I somehow managed to get a hole in them (sad face) but it’s a super easy and comfortable outfit. I might just wear it with thicker tights next time.

I have gone a little crazy at the op-shop & eBay lately but I have found some amazing clothes and shoes! This is one of my new dresses that I found on eBay and it reminded me of something Joan Hollaway would wear so I had to buy it. I wore this outfit to work but I would also wear it out or for date night.

My pen necklace is from a seller I found on etsy and is a replica of Joan’s necklace on Mad Men. It is possibly my most worn necklace!

Finally I have time to post again. So much for my new years resolution! I just can’t seem to find the time between work and uni and convincing stew to take photos of me.

Over the weekend it was lovely autumn weather and the park across from my house was looking so beautiful and colourful.

It was that weather that still had the feeling of summer but with that chill of winter fast approaching.

I thought I should take the opportunity to wear my fav combo of dresses and knee high socks before it’s stockings all winter.

I just love this camera necklace it is one of the treasures I found at my local op-shop!

This is what happens when you ask Stew to take photos of  you! He doesn’t stop till you take the camera off him. But it was a good close up of my sunglasses. And below the beautiful park across from my house, I just love waking up to this every morning!

Stew & I had another wedding to attend over the weekend!! It was our last until October:(
I usally take a million photos every where I go but this time I somehow managed to only take the above so you will have to trust me that it was a very beautiful wedding. It had a very rustic, romantic and intimate feel about it.

My favourite part was the bride’s ride to the wedding, a horse and cart! She looked so pretty and it was just lLike a fairy tale.

I once again went with a retro/sixties look. This time however, I actually did my hair myself! But I did need to look up a Cherry Dollface YouTube clip before attempting my beehive. (Link below) I love her videos they are so easy to follow and I was pretty happy with the end result and a little impressed with myself.

And watch the bottom video. It’s possibly the cutest proposal ever!

I do, I do, I do, I do, I do!

Dress: Catherine Morgan // Shoes: Vintage/Op-Shop //Earrings & Rings: Lovisa // Clutch: Vintage ( From my Grandma) // Gold Nail Polish: Sportsgirl // Mint Nail Polish: Target // Sunglasses: Ray Bans

On Saturday I had Stew’s Best Friend’s wedding and Stew was the Best Man.

It was an amazing wedding and such a lovely day. Everything was perfect and the Bride looked beautiful. I wish I got a close up of her dress. It was gorgeous and had a very vintage look to it. It was a strapless, lace dress and had amazing detail and buttons all the way down the back. I had so much fun and was so proud of Stew’s Best Man speech.

I was hoping to wear the vintage dress I got on-line but I still haven’t had time to adjust it. I found this dress on sale at a store in Swanston Street in Melbourne. I love mint and gold at the moment and was so happy with it.

The bag was my grandma’s and it ended up in my dress up box when I was a little girl and somehow has managed to stay with me all these years. I think its really cute and worked well with my outfit.

Oh and I got my hair coloured again.  I love it. Stew’s sister did it for me and I am so happy with the result!
